Pregame:Bears @ Vikes

Season Averages

The Bears

Offense:

Total Yards-316.4(20th NFL Rank)
Rushing- 116.9(11)
Passing- 199.5(20)

Defense:

Total Yards- 324.9(15)
Rushing- 80.7 (5)
Passing- 244.2(30)

Vikings:
Offense:

Total Yards-321.4(18th NFL Rank)
Rushing- 137.9 (5)
Passing- 183.5(26)

Defense:

Total Yards- 298.9(9)
Rushing- 70.1(2)
Passing- 228.5(22)

The Vikings are in good position to take the lead in NFC North, with a win at home against the Bears on Primetime. The Vikes will be giving the Bears a good dose of the run mostly with Adrian Peterson of course. In the last five starts he has been averaging 124 yards a game. With the game that he had last season against the Bears all Viking fan hope that he can have another one like that.

The inconsistency of the passing game is worrisome in the streak the Vikes have been on. The Vikes better not rely on Frerotte to win this game. All the Vikes need is to be able to manage to game. All the Vikes need from him is keep the Bears unsure what the Vikes will do next.

The Viking defense needs to stop Orton and Forte: PLAIN AND SIMPLE. The Viking pass rush needs to find some way to get to Orton they way that Rodgers was rattled most of the game a couple of week back. Do not allow him to feel comfort in pocket and make good reads. The Vikes need to stop Matt Forte the way they did in Chicago.

If the Vikes win this game, then they would potentially hold their own destiny to make the playoffs.

Vike Triumph: Vikes 30-Jags 12

We will take this win. The way that the Vikes have played on the road this season has been torment. The Vikes capitalize on 5 turnovers by the Jags. The Viking fortunes started early in Jacksonville. The first offensive play of the game, when Brad Meester apparently thought he was under center instead of David Garrad. Messter fumbled the ball on the handoff from Garrad and Nap Harris took the ball 27 yard for a TD. On the ensuing kickoff, Rookie Brian Witherspoon and the Vikes recovered another loose ball. Then three plays later, Chester Taylor found the end zone 3 yard TD run. Adrian Peterson benched to start the game because he was late for a team meeting. He did get 80 yards in the game and a late TD run.

After the Vikes went ahead 14-0 there was no looking back. The Jags could not get into sync after that, Josh Scobee shacked 2 field goals in the first half. The only thing that the Jags could go right is pass the ball; Garrad passed the ball for completing 27 of 45 for 317 yards. The Vikes shutdown the run, 14 rushes for 35 yards on the day.
I hope that the passing game emerges by next Sunday night. We will need a much better performance when we face off against the Bears @ home. It is alarming to see the amount of time that Gus has in the pocket and he is 12-20 for 120 yards and NO TDs. The receivers need to get open in these situations.

The other pending question: With the pending suspensions of Kevin and Pat Williams. Their appeals were heard last week and you can expect this to come to a head by Tuesday. What will the Almight y Goodell suspends the Waterpill 8.

Pregame: Vikes @ Jags

With the Viking loss to the Bucs last week now the division is in a three way tie. To keep pace with the Bears and Packers Quest to 9 games. The team that wins nine games, in my opinion will win the division and will be the only representative from the NFC North in the postseason this year.

The Vikes will be going to Jacksonville this Sunday and try to slow down their road woes. The Vikes are 1-4 on the Road and that lone win come against the dismal and league worst Detroit Lions. Here are some quick stats from both squads.

The Jags

Offense:

Total Yards-314.2(23rd NFL Rank)
Rushing- 117.7(11)
Passing- 196.5(21)

Defense:

Total Yards- 328.2(18)
Rushing- 113.2 (20)
Passing- 215.0(18)

Vikings:
Offense:

Total Yards-330.9(15th NFL Rank)
Rushing- 139.5 (4)
Passing- 191.4(20)

Defense:

Total Yards- 296.7(10)
Rushing- 73.9(2)
Passing- 222.1(21)

The Vikes are facing a team much like themselves in this game. Both teams have similar stats in the same areas. I do not think that the Vikes will need to rely on the shoulders of our QB the win this one. The Jags run stopping defense in 20th, so with Adrian Peterson in the backfield. The Vikes can win by handing the rock off to him 30 times or so.

A problem might occur with the Vikings 3 or the 4 front wall on defense will be in a meetings. The Williams’ for the Diuretic and Jared Allen for some of the questionable hits on QBs on the past few games. It will be interesting to see how this turns out.

PostGame Despair: Bucs 19 Vikes 13

The Vikes have a chance to be in the lead and sole possession of the NFC North. As a Viking fan good things usually do not happening to the Minnesota Vikings, we are not the Green Bay Packers after all. With the loss the Vikes endured on Sunday gives a 3 way tie for first place, but with the tie breaker rules and whatnot the Vikes are in third place technically.Let us get to the game.

The Vikings were unable to get to Jeff Garcia, he won this game with his legs. He was able to get away from the pass rush most of the game.He completed 23 of 30 passes for 255 yards, several of them while running like a chicken with its head chopped off.He was driving the defense crazy with the kind of throws in which he was competing. The pass rush just could not get to mobile Garcia, and made the Viking pay.

The Bucs were down by six, Garcia rallied his troops in the second half. The opening drive in the second half, was a touchdown drive to tie the game at 13. After that 5 plus minutes drive, the Vikes were in trouble. They could not keep the ball and the defense could not stop Bucs offense whatsoever. The Bucs dominated the Vikes on both sides of the ball.

The Bucs defense contained Adrian Peterson to 85 yards on 19 carries in three quarter, there was no rushing the fourth quarter.Gus Frerotte was 14-20, one passing TD to Bobby Wade and no INTs(holy crap for once). The receivers were held in check with no long gains, our long came with V-Shanck for a 23 yard reception. The offense as a unit was held down for the dominate Bucs defense.

The Viking shoot themselves in the foot once again this season. The 2 second half fumbles(Hick and Taylor). Both costly, the Taylor fumble sealed the deal for the Bucs. The story of the season the team had the chances to win this game, but failed to CAPITALIZE. This loss was a hard one to swallow.

Preview: Vikes @ Bucs

The Vikes will be heading down to Raymond James Stadium to face off against a tough Bucs team. The Vikes will need to bring their A game on Sunday. The Bucs will be ready for Adrian Peterson. The Bucs will be well prepared, considering they are one of the best defensive units in the league. Monte Kiffin's defense is going to be geared to stop the Vikes running game. The Vikes are a run first pass last type of a team. Here are some stats on both of the teams:

The Bucs

Offense:

Total Yards-350.3(9th NFL Rank)
Rushing- 115.9(11)
Passing- 234.4(9)

Defense:

Total Yards- 289.4(7)
Rushing- 99.3 (11)
Passing- 190.1(5)

Vikings:
Offense:

Total Yards-344.4(13th NFL Rank)
Rushing- 144.0 (5)
Passing- 200.3(20)

Defense:

Total Yards- 289.3(6)
Rushing- 70.1(3)
Passing- 19.2(19)

With the Vikes playing well as of late winning 4 of the last 5 games, but they will need to do some they have not dome it a while. This is win in Tampa Bay the first time in 1997. This defensive battle will be very interesting to see. In my case, watch on the PC.The Vikes will need to win with their passing game on Sunday.

Vikes 28 Packers 27

Going into the game on Sunday Vikes head coach record was 0-5.The Vikes showed up somewhat against the Packers. The 2008 Vikes sure are putting the fans in a roller coaster ride. The momentum goes from low to high, I swear every game thus are this year.It is a wonder that the fans of the Purple do not have more ulcers.Lets get to the game:

After the Vikes were up 21-10, after a 47 yard TD pass to Chester Taylor from Frerotte.
The Packers should not have been left to get back in this game by any means.Rodgers was bombarded by Vikes all game long. The Vikes were dominating every stat on the sheet. The problem is with one stat in particular, the turnover stat. Frerotte thew 3 INTs again. Once of those was an INT return for a TD by Nick Collins. Of course, what is a game without the VIkes special teams unit giving up a TD. Will Blackmon returned punt to the house for 65 yards. In a span of 2 minutes, the Vikes were not losing 24-21.
The Vikes were driving down the field and it was a foruth and less than a yard on thier 47. Childress was going to punt. Instead he challenged the play, the ruling was upheald. Childress then decided to go for it.It appeared that Adrian had talked Childress into attempting a play on fourth down. Peterson indeed got the ball, tried bouncing left to gain the precious few feet, and saw himself being stripped before the first down could be gained. The Vikes recovered the fumble but the Packers took possession on downs. With the packer having a short field drove the ball within Mason Crosby range and now the Packer were up 27-24 in a game that they should not be in whatsoever.
With the previous series on his mind. We was a freak on a leash, the Packers were unable to stop on this drive. He was blowing through the Packers like they were standing still. AD broke loose at last, stiff-arming Atari Bigby and finally breaking the plane with a dive to give his team a 28-27 lead. The Packers challeging the play, if he crossed the goal line the ruling was upheld and no Packers had no timeouts with 2:12. With the Vikes special teams giving the Packer offense good field position. The packer were able to get the ball withing Mason Crosby's range. THe Vikes gave the Packer the chance to win it here for a 52 yard field goal try. The ball was WIDE RIGHT. The Vikes maintain the ball and run out the clock for the win. THe Childress era FINALLY beat the Packers. 28-27.

Defense Takeover

The Vikes defense stopped every aspect of the Packers game. Aaron Rodgers and company were totally 184 total yards on the day.The Vikes had pressure on Aaron Rodgers all game long, it seemed like he had peeling himself off the turf on every pass he attempted. The Vikes stopped Ryan Grant as well he has been a torn in the Vikes side since being the Packers starting tailback. The run stoppers held him under 80 yards for the game. The Packers receivers were nonexistent throughout the game, sure they had a catch here and there, but nothing with consistency. The Viking defense allowed 13 point on this day. This game should have been a blowout, with the way the defense played.
Peterson on a Mission

Adrian Peterson had his third best game in is young career. He rushed the ball for 192 yards on 30 carries and 1 TD and 3 catches for 33 yards. He shows the nation how special of a player he is. Peterson give it all every down of every game. Peterson became the Captain of the Viking today wanting and taking the ball down the field for the victory over the Packers. There was no stopping him on this day. Peterson was a menace on the ground all game long. That is what gave the Vikes their first victory over the Pach since 2005.

Frerotte the INT King

Sure Frerotte is a QB with plenty of experience. When do you say enough is enough. He almost lost the game for the Vikes with the ill-advised passes and 3 interceptions. It seems like he has been averaging 3 ints a game as of late what the heck is up with that. He had 2 TD passes in the game, but gave up one TD as well.

The Viking defense and running game won this game, but will need to learn to pass to players in purple and not the other team. The Vikes are now tied with Da Bears at 5-4 for the divison lead.

NFL Week 10 2008 Adrian Peterson Highlight

I could watch this video All day. Peterson and the Defense clearly was the reason why they won this game.

Preview: Packers @ Vikes

The Vikings have to take advantage of the home games now for the rest of the season. The Vikes will need to take advantage of the home crowd on Sunday when Aaron Rodgers and the Packers come to the Thunder Dome. We shall see if Rodgers has the same hatred for the Dome after the game on Sunday as Favre does.I think that Vikes will need keep the Packers honest to defend the pass, so the Peterson and Taylor can rip up the Packers lack luster run defense. The Vikes attempt to defend the pass, will be test in this game. It will show everyone if they are ready to step forward or step back. Here are some quick stats on both squads.

The Slackers

Offense:

  • Total Yards-336.5(14th NFL Rank)
  • Rushing- 101.1(21)
  • Passing- 235.4(9)

Defense:

  • Total Yards- 330.2 (20)
  • Rushing- 146.4 (27)
  • Passing- 183.9(5)

Vikings:
Offense:

  • Total Yards-342.2(13th NFL Rank)
  • Rushing- 134.5 (6)
  • Passing- 207.8(17)

Defense:

  • Total Yards- 302.5(11)
    Rushing- 69.6(2)
    Passing- 232.9(23)

It will be an interesting one when everything is said and done. In my opinion, it will come does to which team makes the least mistakes will win the game.

Vikes 28 Texans 21

In this game, it looked like the Vikes were playing together for the first time this season. It was great to be able to hear this. The Thunder Dome did not have same chants as they did when they squeaked out a win against Detroit. It looked like the Beloved Purple is starting to play like a team.
On the offense side of the ball, Frerotte was 11-18 182 yards and 3 TD passes and over 100 of those yards were received by Bernard Berrian and 1 TD as well. Sidney Rice and Visanthe Shiancoe both catching the other two Viking scores TDs. With the Vikes getting some sort of a passing attack, is not opening up some running lanes for Adrian Peterson. In the second half, he had over 100 yards rushing. So he finished the day with 139 yards and one rushing TD. So far, it looks like Gus is leading this Viking offense pretty good.

The defense side of the ball, stopped Andre Johnson, but did not stop the TEs or RBs for the short passes, this is what really killed the Vikes all game long.We really miss EJ. The Vikes surrendered over 350 yards passing. The debut of Madieu Williams was a solid one he had 8 tackles and an intercepted pass in the endzone coming off a neck injury. The mistakes that Texans made through the game were too much for them to overcome. Antonio Winfield had an interception Chad Greenway forced a fumbled, which was recovered by Ben Leber. The Vikes pass rush did well all game long getting after the QBs totaling 5 sacks, injuring the Texans starter. The Vikes rush defenses held Steve Slaton under 70 yards rushing.

With a victory like this makes every Viking fan happy, we are tied for second place right now.I just hope that the Williams Tandem is not broken with the probable suspension with the waterpills.I hope that the Vike come to play next week when we host the Green Bay Packers.
