In the draft so many people have not even heard of Chris Cook. Now with the news that he will in all likelihood be missing the opener against the Saints. This is because he suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee Saturday in the Vikings' preseason victory over Seattle.
Cook was performing great in the preseason games. He has a nose for the ball and was tackling well, something that Vikings DBs have struggled with in recent years. Cook was the leading man the start at the CB spot opposite of Antonie.
This news is especially hard, because the Vikes just traded away veteran DB Benny Sapp in exchange for wide receiver Greg Camarillo. It will be something to see what the Vikes do with their depth chart now for the Defensive Backs.
Cook sure has impressed me so far, but I guess I will have to wait a bit til the fans will see him again.

Preseason Test
All over the NFL, is that the third preseason game is where the starters will be playing the most of all the preseason games. I thought that the offense preformed well in their test.
I know that there will be many of whom wondering about Favre throwing 2 INTs in the game and no TDs. One of those INTs was a good play by the Seattle DB and he went the distance. Favre also seemed like that he worried about getting Walker the ball to give him enough looks for the coaching staff to have a true evaluation of him.
The Viking receivers also have shown that they can be sure handed in 3 down and long situations. Camarillo, Percy Harvin, and Visanthe Shiancoe all will be great options for Favre. It looks like the Vikes did well trying the find receivers this past week to get into the last preseason games.
What is there to say about the defense in this game. Every unit was great against the Seahawks last night. The Vikes defense gave up 2 FGs in the game. The Vikes have plenty of depth on that side of the ball. The questions that remain are who will be left out of the 53 man final roster?
Overall, I think the Vikes performed at a B- grade for the game. I just cannot wait til Sept 9th!!!!
SKOL VIKINGS!!!!! Revenge my friend.

The Corps In Question
With the Vikings finding out earlier this week that they will be without their #1 Wide Receiver Sidney Rice for half the season. Since then the Vikes have picked up 2 brand new receivers Javon Walker and Greg Camarillo. It will be interesting to see how these guys can contribute to the tream. As of right now I have my money on Greg Camarillo. I do not think that this will have any affect on Favre. If the receiver is open he will throw to him as easy as that. We will find out more tonight in the game, because this is where the starters will actually play a full half.
It sounds like that most of the starters will be playing a little bit. Many of the starters have been easing into the preseason, especially some of the bet besides Favre.
In other Viking news the Vikes will be taking a closer look to see of Chris Cook should be considered for the starting CB oppsong Winfield.

Benny Sapp Is Now A Dolphin

The Vikes did not wait around to long did they. After finding out that they would be without Sid Rice and issues that Harvin has had ALL offseason. The Vikes sure getting their hands on some decent receivers.
The Vikings have acquired Greg Camarillo from the Miami Dolphins for CB Benny Sapp. Camarillo, 6-1, 190 pounds, played college football at Stanford and was signed by San Diego as an undrafted free agent in 2005. He played the 2006 season with San Diego before being claimed off waivers by the Dolphins in September 2007. He caught eight passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns in 15 games that season. He had a career-high 55 receptions for 613 yards and two touchdown in 2008 playing in 11 games before tearing his ACL and last season caught 50 passes for 552 yards in 16 games.
I think that this is a good deal for the Vikings to make. Benny Sapp did not have much of a chance in making the team in first place. The Vikes thought might as well get something for Sapp before they cut him loose. It looks like that Camarillo will be competing with Greg Lewis for the #3 WR job. The best of luck to Benny Sapp see you in the regular season.

News Not Good For Favre

The sourced today that Sidney Rice, FINALLY received hip surgery in Colorado on Monday. It looks like that he will miss half, yes you read that correctly half the season. It sure is not going that great in the reciving corps so far in the season. First, the issues with Harvin and now this.
Brett Favre sure did find a liking to Rice last season. So it looks like Favre will have to find another receiver for the first half of this season as his go to guy.
Well maybe Chilly and company, so know what they are doing after all. on monday the team signed former Packer Javon Walker. Walker had his best years in Green Bay with Favre as the QB. Will Walker be able to help the Vikes continue to stride forward without skipping a beat? If interested here are Walkers career stats. I hope that his knees can hold up throughout the season, if he can make it to that point.
I just wish Rice would have fixes this problem a little soon. Now what do I because Rice is on the fantasy team. Do I keep him or cut?
Nothing comes easy to Vikes does, now we will see how everything plays out for the rest of preseason and the start of the season.

What We Learned in Preseason Game #2
There were some things that we Viking fans did learn in the preseason game #2. It is so hard to cheer for your team in the preseason. I know it is football after all, but it is NOT the same as the season. We Viking fans know in the end it does not matter who wins or loses in these games.
One thing that we learned, is that the Vikes offensive line needs to learn how to block a little better. Man just look at Willis and company planting Favre to the turf. I bet that Chilly was holding his breath after that hit. Favre was on the field for a grand total for 4 plays and that was all he needed. I am hoping that the line was do a better just in pass and run blocking the next game. If not it many be a LONG season for Favre and the Vikings.
The Vikes need to keep Joe Webb on the team no matter what it take. If Webb is unable to beat out Sage for the #3 QB spot. Put him at WR/RB spot or something. There is no way that he will be available to Vikes as a practice squad dummy. He has to much talent for other team to pass up on him. He is a stud, he has the athletic ability and instincts that you are looking for in a football player. Here is Webb running for a 48 yard TD.
I am hoping that EJ is in football shape. He looked a little rusty in last nights game, but that was expected with this being his 1st real action since his injury. He may need some work on his pass coverage, because the TEs were getting behind him to get the first downs the offense needs to continue the drives.
Overall it was an okay game, but the Vikes last 15-0 in the end. Just remember 2 more games of worthless football and then the fun starts...oh yeah and the ulcers.
