Vike gets shutdown 34-0

This game was one of the most pathetic displays by the Vikes showed in quite a while. From the first play the Vikes could not do anything on either side of the ball. This is always a huge game for both teams. In the game this is what the Vikes accomplished:

  • The first time in Vikings/Packers history that Green Bay has shut out Minnesota.
  • The worst regular season shutout loss in Vikings' history.
  • Four consecutive losses to our biggest rival.
  • Seven (yes, 7) total passing yards at halftime.
  • No completions to a wide receiver until the 2:30 mark of the third quarter.
  • No third down conversions all game.
  • No fourth down conversions all game

Our run and pass defense was horrible on this day. Viking fans are getting accustomed to the pass yards the Vike secondary has been giving up per game. Farve made play after play all day. The run defense is something the Vikes thrive on one of the best in the NFL. This was the 1st time all season a team had a 100 yard rusher against the Vikes.

It would be nice if we could have passes the ball decent enough to give Adrian Peterson a chance to run the ball. Peterson was 11 carries, 45 yards, 4.1 yards per carry. That was pretty fine day.Peterson usually needs to double that to get his usual output he has been putting on teams this year.On a low hit by cornerback Al Harris, Adrian Peterson injured. He did not return to the game. The Vikes are calling it a "knee sprain." Bollinger did not complete a pass to a receiver until midway through the 3rd quarter. The passing game was dismal at best. I hope that they can find some kind of a passing game this season.

In the next games, we will see if the Vikes give a damn about the rest of the season. There was not that many players that actually played with their heart on Sunday. There was only 4-5 player that came out to play.

Adrian Peterson
Chester Taylor
Chris Kluwe
EJ Hederson
Ben Leber

Their is nothing positive from this performance. No unit on this day decided to show up. We will see if they can rebound to some degree with this pathetic display they showed us against the Packers.
