Vikes down in Denver 22-19

Vikes @ Broncos Boxscore

The Vikes most of the game have looked flatter than the Great Plains most of the game. They showed little life most of the game against the Broncos. There was not life in them until they entered the 4th quarter of play. It was not until the Vikes trailed 19-3 until they did anything about it. After that point, the Vikes offense had no problem passing against the Broncos zone defense. Tarvaris Jackson was completing pass after pass in the two scoring drives in the fourth quarter. Tavaris Jackson had two touchdown passes to Bobby Wade and two 2-point conversions he ran in for successful conversions to tie the game up at 19 all. That is how the game lasted until the overtime period. The Vikes lucked out for a moment and had the ball first. Tarvaris Jackson fumbled the ball away DEEP in their own territory. The play was under review, but it was not even close. Denver recovered the ball cleanly. The 1st play Denver kicked the ball for a 30 yard field goal behind the trusty leg of Jason Elam. That ended the game with the Broncos on top 22-19.

It was unbelievable the run late in the game the Vikes did put on. Most of the game it was difficult to listen to them doing their usual shooting themselves in the foot. The offense was in great rhythm, but the Vikes had so many miscues throughout the game for them to overcome. The first but not the last was the Chester Taylor fumble while he was trying to score a TD. Of course there was Troy Williamson and his dropped passes he had in the game. The one that hurt the most was the one he dropped when he burned the Bronco defended. Tarvaris saw that he was WIDE open and he delivered to him and it fell right through his hands. This would have been a 73 yard touchdown from Tarvaris to Williamson.

With the inability for Adrian Peterson to ran the ball as of late has been hard to watch\listen to. Sure it was exciting seeing him burning defenses early in the season. I hope that he returns to his pre-knee injury form next season. On defense, the secondary was shows everyone why they are one of the worst against the pass. The passing was nonstop against the Purple Pride. With this game the Broncos were able to run easily against the Vikes. With the mistackles on defense something that the fans were not accustomed to see from the Vikes most of the season.

The penalty that hurt the worst was the illegal hands to the face in the end zone by Ryan Cook , by rule is a safety. This games sums up the season pretty much, with the inconsistency of the offense and the defense “pass protection” we could not get the job done when we needed it.

Note:

All I wanted from the Vikes was improvement and they showed me that in 8-8. It gives me hopes for this team next season. Now for the offseason!!

Keys to winning in Denver

With the heartbreaking loss To the 'Skins hurting all over to the fans of Viking Nation.Losing this game hurt our chances on the playoffs. In order for the Vikes to think about making they have to win in Denver and the Cowboys have to beat the Skins. That is the only way for the Vikes to make the postseason. Now to business what do the Vikes need to do to walk away with a victory from Denver:

1.Keep the pressure on. The Vikes front 7 need to keep pressure on Cutler. He is still a young QB and is bound to fumble it away(something he has done 17 out 20 starts) or an interception for out secondary. We cannot let him ripe apart out secondary that is something that he has shown he is able to do this year.So Vikes keep on the pressure.

2. The secondary matchups. Our secondary needs to stop the big Denver receivers from killing our DBs. If we let Denver pass against us like we did against Washington. Then we might as well pack our bags and go home and wait from next season. This is out last hope. The run the defense should be able to shutdown the running backs . Considering they are giving up less that 70 yards per game. Denver will be attacking our young CBs all game and try to burn them.

3.The run game. The Broncos will try to pack 8 or 9 up from to stop our explosive running attack we have. We can deal with this it comes with the territory from AD and CT. Our line needs to explode off the ball the open up some nice hole for the talented RBs which we to run through. We need to actually run the ball more than we have the past couple of games.Show the country that the Vikes were not just a pretender.

4. Pass all day. T-Jack should have plenty of room to pass if the defense is going to stack 9 guys in the box. So I think that he will have another 200 plus passing ball game as well as a 50 yard rushing game as well. I believe that he needs to show the fans that he is their guy and there is nothing to worry about having him behind center.

Here are some of the keys the Vikes have to do to come away from Denever with a victory.

The Prediction

Vikes 30
Broncos 24

Brad holds our fate

That is right. The former Vike Brad Johnson holds the playoff fate for the Vikes. This is due because the Cowboys do not really have anything else to play for. The Cowboys need to win over the Skins next week for us to have a chance to get into the playoffs. We also have to win in order for this to happen. We all wil be watching this game Dallas against the Skins on Sunday hoping for Brad to win over the the Skins. You never know it could happen.

Childress gets schooled by Gibbs

Coming into this game the Vikes had all the help they need with the Eagles knocking off the Saints earlier in the day. All the Vikes had do is win and they would be in the playoffs. It was obvious from the 1st drive that the Vikes were not ready whatsoever in this game. All night the Skins were one step ahead of the Vikes in the 1st half at least. Tavaris Jackson and the offense could not do anything with the ball when they had it.The Vikes made so many mistakes they could not come back from the 25 point deficit that they created for themselves entering half time. With a feat like that to comeback from meant one thing that the offense had to rely on a subpar passing game.
T-Jack was nor able stay consistent in this game. He had 220 yards passing on 25-41 with 1 passing TD late in the 3rd quarter and 2 INT. He also lead the team in rushing with 44 yards on 8 carries and 2 TDs. The Vikes could not run the ball the way they wanted to AD only had 9 carries for 28 yards in the game. The Skins defense was able to make the BIG play when it was needed it started with the 1st pass of the game with an INT thrown by T-Jack.

The Redskins offense lead by Todd Collins was running great on all area. The Vikes could nor stop the pass as usual. They passed for about 250 yards. The Sins pass consistency opened up the running game. The Skins could nor really run the ball til the 4th quarter. Then Clinton Portis was finding so nice holes to run through. Giving him76 yards rushing. This was a LONG game from a die hard Viking fan. I live and die by the Purple.

The team in general was outplayed and out coached by the Redskins. The game is over and we will step on foot in front of another come tomorrow.
We can still make the playoffs. Here is what NEEDS to happen.
Vike win in Denver
AND
Washington loss against Dallas.

Pregame:The 'Skins @ the Vikes

With both teams in the hunt for the final playoff spot it is a must win for both teams. The Vikes are currently at 8-6 and hold second wild card spot and the Redskins are at 7-7 and need some help in order to make the postseason. There are some keys that Vikes need to do to stop the Skins especially after they barely skated past the struggling Bears last week.
1. Pressure the QB. With Todd Collins a veteran backup has had a decent couple of games since he is in for the injured Jason Campbell. With the Vikes doing a good job with the blitz and pressure on the QBs they have faced. So why change bring on the pressure. Make Collins uncomfortable in the pocket. So then he will be forced into making bad decisions.

2. Stop the run. With Portis having a desent year. The Viking run stop excelling with 2 Pro bowl tackles in the Williams Wrecking Crew(WCW). I figure the WCW will do a stellar job at stopping the Redskin running backs in this game. I think that this is key to take away all of the weapons that the Skins possess.

3. Run Vikes run. With the best running game in the NFL this season. I have a feeling that Taylor will be getting more than 8 carries in this game. So then the Skins will be seeing more running during this game. The Vikes cannot rely on the pass like other teams this year at least. Childress just has to run with AD and CT pure and simple.

4. Back to management. Last game it seems that Tarvaris Jackson was out of his element. He had almost 30 passes in a game. That is a season high. It is something that we Viking fans are not use to seeing from the offense. So continue with the maturing process of T-Jack with the nice short passes. It has worked all season why switch it up now.

These keys will be essential to win under the light of Sunday Night Football. I believe that the Vikes will prevail after Sunday is over.

The Prediction

Vikes 20
Skins 10

#The playoff senario is that the Vikes need to win and the Saint need to tie or lose then we make the post season the 1st time since 2005.

Probowl Players

The Vikes are sending 7 that is right I did not stutter 7 player to the Pro Bowl. I am just happy that we are sending that many. Sure there are some players I think that should be going but

Rookie running back Adrian Peterson(1)* is among seven Vikings players named to the NFC Pro Bowl roster for the Feb. 10 game in Honolulu. Joining Peterson on the team will be fullback Tony Richardson(3), left guard Steve Hutchinson(5), center Matt Birk(6), strong safety Darren Sharper(5), defensive tackle Kevin Williams(2) and nose tackle Pat Williams(2).
All players are starting besides Birk.

I am not that sure how Richardson and Sharper got in. They played good this year. I did not see them as Pro Bowl type players on this year.
I am with everyone else EJ Henderson got the shaft from the Pro Bowl voters. It is going to be nice to see some more purple and yellow in Hawaii this year.He has been a monster on the field playing with intensity every play of every game. I love to watch his play every game.Maybe in the future.

* the number indicates the number of Pro Bowl appearances in each player's career.

It was ugly but a win is a win

The Vikes sweep the Bears. With a score 20-13 over Chicago. That is something that the Vikes have a hard time doing. It does not matter how both teams are playing the Bears is always a game that is circled in the schedule. Coming into the game I figured that was going to be a fight to the finish. It was a great NFC North defense game the whole day.If you are looking for offensive powered game. You tuned into the wrong game. It is a NFC North rivalry game.
The Vikes have now shown that they are able to win the close games as well as the blow outs. The Vikes offense was decent , but did not do anything that magnificent during the Bears this time.
Tarvaris Jackson had a rough game that is the only word that I can think of to explain his play last night at the Metrodome. He was 18-29 for 249 yars(carrer high) 3ints 1 fumble. He made some bad throws. TJack seemed a little antsy and did not look that he was very comfortable in the pocket. Some of the throws he could have thrown aways but he decided to force the throw. Every young quarterback has games like this.We will see what he does next week Sunday night against the 'Skins @ the Metrodome.
The Vikings star rookie tailback was coming off the "worst game he has ever play" as he stated earlier in the week. The Bears defense contained him most of the game. They did not want him to rush over 200 like he did earlier in the season. They kept his yardage down, but they could not keep him out of the end zone where it really counted. After his day in the office, AD had 78 yards on 20 attempts and 2 TDs(1,8). He had a couple long Petersonesc runs. The Vikes were forced to rely on the pass. Something they have been unable to do well and consistently all season. They were able to win the game with the combination run and pass.

The Viking defense was the real reason why we were in this game at all and end up winning it. A defense let by the Willaimses' and the pass rush they stopped and shutdown the Bears' passing game. Earlier in the week, Lovie Smith decided to try Kyle Orton out as the starting QB. From the 1st series on he was blitzed rushed. He could not do anther back there. Some of the throws were off target and not even close. THe Bears running game was as pathetic as the passing game. They Vikes held them to 8 three and outs. The Vikes defense was the MVP of this game. The play that sealed the game was the hail mary pass by Orton was a hair too short to Bernard Berrian in End zone and was intercepted by Dareen Sharper. Then the Vikes could just run out the clock.I was a great defensive game to watch but, what do you expect when we play the Bears.A nice smash mouth football game. The team that is playing the best D usually wins these contests and that was the case last night.
now the Vikes make it 5 STRAIGHT wins. Now that is impressive on how we started off.AS long as we can keep the winning going. We might even get in at the #5 playoff spot. Time will just tell.

Da Bears Coming to the Dome

With the Bears coming the the Dome and out of the playoff picture. They are going to try halt the Viking playoff hopes. Currently they hold the second wildcard spot. There are some keys that the Norsemen need to do to come out on tops against Da Bears.

1. Keep up the Pressure. With the defense constantly pressuring the QB ever since that Giants game. It gives an experienced QB a difficult time to pass the ball and figure out the defense. With Kyle Orton starting against the Vikes he will be having the Purple People in his face all game long.

2.Stopping the Run. This is something the Vikes have been able to do the past couple season. The main reason is they have the Williams Wrecking Crew(WWC). They need to stop whatever run the Bears do have. Maybe the WWC will get to their goal allowing 30 yards a game.

3. Run away. With AD coming off a difficult game against the 49ers. He is out to punish so defense. Sadly to say for Bears fans. It will more likely it will be against them. AD is averaging over 100 yards a game. This should a fun running game to watch. With Chester Taylor the other side of the 2 headed monster running attack they have. It gives defenses a heck of a time to prepare for 2 great running backs.

4. Manage it. With Tarvaris Jackson passing the ball with ease from the great play-action faking out the defenses focusing on stopping the Viking running game. In his second year he is doing great sustaining drives. Against the Bears he needs to keep up what he has been doing. Throwing the short pass and relying in his instincts.

In closing I think that the Vikings will win this game on Monday Night. Show the nation that they are a force to reckoned with.

The prediction:
Vikes 30
Bears 21

Cheers

I introduce to you:Kyle Orton(Bears) Todd Collins(Redskins).

Here are the two QBs that Viking defense gets to defend against the next two weeks. Both are backups and have had not that much of NFL action in their career. Orton have had the most pretty much all that coming his rookie season after the Grossman knee injury.
It is going to nice to see how these QBs take the pressure the Vikes apply to the QB as of late.

VIkes on Sunday Night

With the play that the Vikes as of late. The NFL flex schedule announced that the Washington @Minnesota game has been moved. Instead of playing at noon it will be the Sunday night day for week 15. With both teams currently competing for the 6th wildcard spot. This should be a great game to watch. We Viking fans sure do get a treat Monday Night then Sunday Night.

Viking Rolling:Vikes 27 49ers 7

The way that the tables turn for Viking fans in a month. A month ago, the state of the Vikings were buzzing in wonder somethings like: Was Tarvaris Jackson worth a 2nd round pick? Should we just fire Brad Childress already?
Now look art where we are. The Vikings hold the 2nd wildcard spot as we speak. So now they control their own destiny for the playoffs.

The Vikes play a great 1st half of football with a 27-0. The second half the Vikes were not that impressive. The defense for the 49ers really clamped the Viking offense down. A win is a win with the 27-7 blowout of the 49ers.

Tarvaris Jackson

He has shown in the past month that he can lead his team down the field with consistent play and good decision making. The 1st half, he was picking apart the 49er defense with his precision passes. By the end of the game, he was 16-25, for 163 yards, 1 touchdown, and 0 interceptions. He is doing a great job with the young receiving corps.
With Jackson healthy and injury-free is a joy to watch his play.

Chester Taylor

CT makes a statement during this game that defenses should not forget about him as a running back. The 49er defense zeroed in on AD all game long as stopped him with 3 total rushing yards all game long. With the 2 headed monster the Vikes have not problem. CT had 101 yards on 8 carries. Moat of the yards coming off a 84 yard(longest run from scrimmage this season) TD run.I kind of wished that the Vikes would have ran the ball more with their hot running back in CT. With this performance, it gives opposing defenses a more difficult task that they have shutdown two great running backs.Run CT &AD Run.

Defense Shutdown

As the story goes you win with good defense. The Vikes face a sub par offense in the 49ers. In the 1st half it started out ugly. The 1st play was a penalty, then an interception by 3ll lb Kevin Williams and rumbles for am 18 yard TD return. His partner in crime also Pat Williams also had an interception in the game. The big men can stop the run as well as intercept passes. The defense dominated the 49ers most of the game. The Vikes hold Frank Gore under 70 yards rushing(their monster of a tail back). The 49ers had some great plays but could not be consistent only manging 1 TD all game long. They sure did change for what they use to be with their winning ways.

Next on tap
The Vikings have a Monday night game at the Metrodome against the Bears.Earlier in the season the Vikes beat the Bear at Solider field the 1st time since 2000. Nobody is sure who the QB will be Griese or Orton. The Vikes will be preparing for either option, with the defense play of pressuring the QB all game. i believe that the QB will have trouble passing the ball. The running game is virtually nonexistent. With the remaining schedule the Vikes have they can seal up a playoff spot.

08 December 2007

ACL stops James come back

Erasmus James has his season cut short after tearing the same ACL he torn last season. He worked his way back into the starting lineup. Then this had to happen. All the hard work and rehab for what. He is back on the IR 14 months after the first one. So now James will have the ACL "repaired" once again. He is done for the rest of the season a good chuck of next season as well. This could not have come at a worse time.

It was the second significant blow to the Vikings defensive line this week. Ray Edwards, who started the first 11 games before giving way to James last week, was suspended Wednesday for violating the NFL's policy on steroids.

So now the Vikes are down the 1st 2 DE on the depth chart. So now the Vikes turn to rookie Brian Robison and second-year pro Jayme Mitchell to fill in for James.

Without James I think that Vikes will do a good job containing San Fran.

06 December 2007

Vikes travel to take on 49ers

With the Vikes in playoff contention this is a very winnable game for them. The 49ers cannot stop the run or the pass. The Vikes face a struggling defense. With a HEAVY dose of Peterson and Taylor, look to run all over the niners. The Vikes have an edge in every offensive category.Tarvaris Jackson is doing a great job as of late make defenses have to worry more about the passing game. He has been completing over 70% of his passes in the past few games. He has to continue manging the game and sustaining drives for the Vikes to win.
With the plan of adding pressure on the quiz with the zone blitzing, the quarterbacks have been having a terrible time passing effectively against the Vikes. So for Minnesota to continue the march to make it into the playoffs. They need to stick with everything they are doing and everything with be fine.

My prediction:
Vikes 28
49ers 10

The Vikes need so me help to make to the playoffs :
The team in bold are the ones that need to win for Viking playoff hope to stay alive.
  1. Arizona (6-6) at Seattle (8-4)
  2. Carolina (5-7) at Jacksonville (8-4)
  3. New Orleans (5-7) at Atlanta (3-9)
  4. Dallas (11-1) at Detroit (6-6)

03 December 2007

Vikes takedown Lions

The Vikes torched the Lions 42-10(most point in the Brad Childress era) at the Metrodome The Vikes were clicking on cylinders today. The Vikes first 5 possessions resulted in a touchdown. The Vikes were unbelievable the way that they played today.

AD is back

With Adrian Peterson back from his knee injury the 1st time. He did not skip a beat after he got warmed up. AD was going left, right and right through the Lion top 10 rush defense. He has only 15 carries 166 yards and 2 Tds(16,13).He has shown everyone that is one of the leagues most dynamic running backs.
Chester Taylor

He lost the starting job early this season, this does not stop him. He and AD are a great tandem of backs that Chilly possess. Taylor had 14 carries 70 yards 1TD(one the 1st drive). With both players getting around 15 carries each, this keeps him and AD fresh, together they give defenses a hell of a time to defense this running game. With him and AD this is the reason the Vikes have the best running game in the league.
T-Jack

With him healthy and confident the Vikings are getting a passing game. In the past 3 games he has had over 70% completion percentage. The more he plays the more he is improving before our eyes. With his stats today, he was 18-24 204 yards 2 tds 1 int. You can see that he is sustaining drives and making better decisions with the ball. He is bringing a more balanced attack for the defense to think about. He is showing us that maybe people were to quick to judge him and he could be the QB of the future.
Aundrae Allison

Double A had a great game today. He had shown us that he can run after the catch for a nice 35 yard gain from a short pass.Everyone else saw his sweet 103 yard return for the TD. After first, I was wondering what the hell is is doing just down it. After he came of the endzone, there was a nice running lane from him to go down the sideline. He went virtually untouched, Jason Hanson the kicker was the only Lion that had a chance of stopping the return for the TD. After this the momentum never went away from the Vikes.

Defense

The defense shows another dominating performance again in the past couple of weeks. The rush defense is still there with their strong line that OLs seem not to be able to move at all for most of the season. Something has been quite different about this defense as of late. Early in the season teams were able to pass on then with ease. Now the Offensive coordinators have had a difficulty pass as of late. The Vikes have a pretty good pair of young cornerbacks in Griffin and McCauley. These guys have been picking up the slack with Winfield battling a bad hamstring.

The Vikes have 4 games left all are pretty winnable. The Vikes are rolling on all cylinders at this point in time. SKOL VIKINGS!!!!!!!!

30 November 2007

Bring on the Lions

With the Vikings and the Lions fighting for a playoff spot. The Vikes have won a couple of games in a row. This is the 1st time this season. Hopefully the Vikes can make a run for one of the two wildcard spots. Some things the Vikes need to do to win:

For the offense:
With AD lock and loading from his 2.5 game absence. What a time to return. With him and Taylor healthy this will make our running game even more potent that it have been all season. I would run the ball with our 2 headed beast running attack that we have in the backfield againt the Lions. They have a pretty decent run defense. We will see if out OL can get the push upfront for our RBs. The passing game that we have is a nice chance of pace from the running game. I would like to see 20 attempts a game. But as long as we are scoring point that is all that matters.

For the defense:
With the Lions passing game lead by Jon Kitna is the story for the defense. Their running game is averaging less that 100 yards per contest. With the Williams' in the middle and the DE/LBs, we should control line of scrimmage again in this gain. Leslie Frazier, the Vikes DC need to keep pressure on Kitna all game long like he did to Manning in last weeks game. We need to keep the pressure on Kitna or he will torch the secondary.

Here are some keys the Vikes do to continue their march to the playoffs.

My prediction:
Vikes 27
Lions 19

RIP Sean Taylor

Sean Taylor was a hard hitting cornerback for the Redskins that gave it his all every down that he played. He was selected #5 in the 2004 draft from University of Miami(FL). He was really coming into his own this year becoming one of the more elite corners' in the game.
On Monday, news spread that he was shot in the leg in his home, while mending a knee injury.
Taylor and his girlfriend were awakened by loud noises, according to family friend Richard Sharpstein, who learned the details from Taylor's girlfriend, Jackie Garcia. He said Taylor grabbed a machete he keeps in the bedroom for protection. Someone then broke through the bedroom door and fired two shots, one missing and one hitting Taylor, Sharpstein said. Neither Taylor's daughter, Jackie, nor Taylor's girlfriend were injured in the attack. The bullet damaged the femoral artery in Taylor's leg, causing significant blood loss. Taylor never regained consciousness, Sharpstein said, and the news that he had squeezed a nurse's hand late Monday only proved to give false hope.(1)

We lost a man that was turning around his life at the young age of 24. He will be missed everywhere.

Vikes 41 Giants 17

The Vikes shows after the game against the Giants that they still have some fight left in them. The Vikes embarrassed the Giant at the Meadowlands 41-17.

Defense gets a little picky

All day long Eli Manning was under pressure by the Viking defense. He was never comfortable in the packet after the 1st series in the game. The defensive unit keep the passing game under check something the Vikings have had a hard time to do all season. The Giants could not run the ball well at all to lighten the load for Manning.Manning and the passing game was out of sync all game. He made a good pass here and there but with no consistency. The Viking defense had 4 ints and 3 went for TDs(Darren Sharper, Dwight Smith, and Chad Greenway). The defense played well on every aspect of the game. The line has 2 late sacks and stuffed the run from the Giants and the pass rush to force Manning to make poor decisions. It is always fun to watch the Vikes total domination on the defense side of the ball.

On with the Offense

On the second play from scrimmage Tarvaris Jackson completed a long pass to Sidney Rice for a 60 yard touchdown. T-Jack was 10-12 129 yards. I have to say that he is approving his consistency throughout the season. With the past few games he has had 80% pass completion. He also had 38 yards on 5 carries, which came on some key third downs. He is developing into a decent QB in his second NFL season.
Chester Taylor started against this week because AD is out with the LCL injury that he sustained against the Packers. CT had another productive day, he ran for 77 yards and 1 TD.
Sidney Rice had a good day receiving with 82 yards and a TD.He is showing some great potential in his rookie season. It seems that there is much more to come from #18.

Playing with Pride

The Viking played well on every part of the team. They played hard all game, the defense was surrounding the ball and playing to the whistle. The offense look consistent all day and did what they need to do to win. It sure was fun to watch.

Next on tap

The Vikes(5-6) are at home against the Lions(6-5). It should be a great game to watch. With both teams needing this win to try to make the playoffs. Who wants it more?

23 November 2007

Can the Vikes make it 2 wins in a row

Can the Vikes put together 2 consecutive wins the 1st time this season?? The Vikes are 7 point underdogs coming in the game at the Meadowlands. Everyone in the league know that we can run with either AD or Chester Taylor in the backfield. There are not that many teams that can stop these two backs WHEN healthy.
The Vike passing game. With the playoff picture in doubt. I believe the Vikes need to work on the passing game. We are one of the worst in the league. If we can show that we can move the ball effectively down the field with the passing game. This is something that we have been unable to do all season. no matter who is back at the helm. With T-Jack showing a fizzle of consistency all season both coming against terrible teams. I am hoping that he can continue where he left off during the Raiders.
The Vike run defense has stop almost everyone the past two years. We have one of the best in the league once again. The Williams' are unstoppable tearing up the opponents' backfield.I think that we will be able to stop the RBs for the Giants.

With the defensive backfield unable to stop the pass this season. This is a huge gaping hole for this Viking teams. If we could only stop the pass, then we would be a teams to reckon with. For the remainder of the season. The Giants' have some good receivers going up against the exposed Viking DBs. We will see if they can contain the deep threat of the Giant receiving corps.I think this will be a closer game then the critics think it will be.

My prediction is:

Vikes 27
Giants 32

21 November 2007

AD not rules Out

Depending on what Chilly and the other coaches rule for the game Sunday against the Giants. AD might have a chance, but it is slim to have playing time on Sunday. If he does play he will not get his 20-25 carries. Considering that they are not really contending for the playoffs or anything, but I would not pushing him back so fast as long he is 100%. Considering the performance that the Vikes got out of Chester Taylor last week against the Raiders. Our line has been doing a good job with run blocking. I hope that the Vikes does screw this up and he might do more damage AD's knee. We will see what s come Sunday.

19 November 2007

Vikes win over the Raiders 29-22

The Vikes play a pretty good game today to win over the Raiders at the Metrodome on Sunday. It was a fun game to watch even with Adrian Peterson on the sideline with a knee injury. The running game was a success as it has been all season long. Chester Taylor had a career game with Peterson like numbers against the Raider defense. He ripped through the Raiders all day long. He had 164 yards on 22 carries and 3 TDs(10,38,6) also 3 catches for 38 yards. in which CT had over 200 yards of total offense. He is no AD he is the best backup in the league. The line sure did open up some great hole for him today. This is a reason why we are the best rushing offense in the league.

T-Jack had his best passing output of his young NFL career. He was 17-22 throwing for 171 yards and 1 int. Beside that lone interception, he passed the pass very well. I was pretty accurate and on the mark for the receivers . He had little room to complete the passes he did. Due to the fact that the WRs were not getting that much separation. The Vikes offense wee completing passes and moving the ball down the field and even in the red zone. This has been unheard of this year. i know it was only one game.Maybe this is a sign for better things to come for our passing game.

We found out that Sidney Rice has a pretty good arm. Yes he is the WR we pick in this years draft. He went 2/2 for 93 yards passing. One of which was the first play of the game. The play was a WR reverse and completed a 74 yard bomb to Visanthe Shiancoe. Now that was a sweet play to wake the fans at the Metrodome.

One with the defense

The Williamses dominated the line of scrimmage against the Raiders after the Viking rush defense ran threw every which way last week against the Packers.I think that they showed up that they have not lost a step. The defense played with great intensity on the Sunday capred to last week. The pass defense is still in need of HELP. We will not be going anywhere is we cannot stop a QB passing over 300 yards. Former Vike Daunte Culpepper did very well against our DBs. He went 23-39 for 344 yards 1 TD, 1 int,2 fumbles(1lost). He showed what the Vike fans miss and do not miss about him. I for one miss him as our QB. It does not matter how bad our DBs today.

THE VIKES WIN.
This is all that matters. It always make me so happy to see my Norsemen to put a W in the win column. So everyone get out your horns and make some noise.

What does AD sent to the Hall??

I read ESPN today and they finally said what he will be giving to the Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. Now that record breaking rushing game that he had against the Chargers feels so long ago. That day against the Chargers he was a monster like he has been most of the games this year.
Anway, he will be giving the Hall of Fame his uniform he wore that day. Here is the thing about the uniform it has yet to be wash and that will never happen. Joe Horrigan, a representative from the Hall of Fame, feigned disgust as he held the jersey next to him.Starting Friday it will be on display for all people to see.So now the people can see and smell what it takes to earn every yard for the single game rushing record. With this game and year with AD ripping through the defense like butter. I hope that this will be good things to come for the Vikes. AS long as he can stay healthy he will have a great career as a Viking.

Bring on the Raiders

With the Vikes the are still recovering the mauling they took at Green Bay last, this week should go a little better. The Vikes are at home against the Oakland Raiders. This should be a really good game. Both are not playing for the playoffs, thy are really evenly matched. The Vikes will still be able to run the ball without Peterson in the backfield. Do you guys remember a guy by name of Chester Taylor? He did a pretty good job for us last year, he had over 1200 yards. He should light up the Raiders with their poor run defense.

No passing

With both of the team lack a consistent passing game and shoving through QB as much as some teams do line changes in hockey. Maybe the Vikes can actually pass the ball a little, I just hope that T-Jack can stall healthy. It has been a question all season if he can stay on the field. It seems like he has been dealing with one thing or another. The ex-Vike is starting for the Raiders' Dante Culpepper. He has done a decent job for them this year. He has not been hurt or anything like that really compared to our QB. The NFL Network is expecting that him and Russell will split time in the game.It should be a boring passing attack by either side.As long as the Vikes can complete a pass to a WR in the 1st half I will be happy.

The Defense
Oakland's potent ground attack facing a good Minnesota run defense and Minnesota's struggling passing attack facing an exceptional Oakland pass defense. Field position will be key and while the point total should be low, the physical play and effort by both teams will be great. So will be a great smash mouth football game.

Rest Peterson

I do not see the point of bring Adrian Peterson back this season. I know that he has had a great season for us. With his injury there is not much of a point to rush him back.I would love to see him out there making the defense look foolish out on the field.I would rather have him in the long run. He could possibly get hurt worse if we do that.We are not contending for the playoffs or anything like that. I am just hoping that we finish 8-8 this season. have no doubts on that even happening with the way that we have played all season with NO PASSING GAME. Maybe with nothing much to play for except pride and respect maybe we can show that we can pass the ball better than we have all year. Develop the young players a bit and get them some real game time experiece. Finish off the year on a positive note. SKOL VIKINGS

Peterson Out with ligament tear

Adrian Peterson will be out against the Raiders for certain after the knee injured he sustained against Green Bay on Sunday. He will miss at least one game with a torn lateral collateral ligament(LCL). But the injury is not deemed serious enough to require surgery to end his season. He did not tear any of the major ligaments. This is bittersweet news for Viking fans. Team doctors told Childress that with ligament tears graded on a three-point scale, with three being the worst, Peterson's tear is "two-plus." It's not as serious as an anterior cruciate ligament tear. With a little time Peterson will be back in his same form.

This all for now with the issue.

Vike gets shutdown 34-0

This game was one of the most pathetic displays by the Vikes showed in quite a while. From the first play the Vikes could not do anything on either side of the ball. This is always a huge game for both teams. In the game this is what the Vikes accomplished:

  • The first time in Vikings/Packers history that Green Bay has shut out Minnesota.
  • The worst regular season shutout loss in Vikings' history.
  • Four consecutive losses to our biggest rival.
  • Seven (yes, 7) total passing yards at halftime.
  • No completions to a wide receiver until the 2:30 mark of the third quarter.
  • No third down conversions all game.
  • No fourth down conversions all game
(courtesy of Daily Norseman)

Our run and pass defense was horrible on this day. Viking fans are getting accustomed to the pass yards the Vike secondary has been giving up per game. Farve made play after play all day. The run defense is something the Vikes thrive on one of the best in the NFL. This was the 1st time all season a team had a 100 yard rusher against the Vikes.

It would be nice if we could have passes the ball decent enough to give Adrian Peterson a chance to run the ball. Peterson was 11 carries, 45 yards, 4.1 yards per carry. That was pretty fine day.Peterson usually needs to double that to get his usual output he has been putting on teams this year.On a low hit by cornerback Al Harris, Adrian Peterson injured. He did not return to the game. The Vikes are calling it a "knee sprain." Bollinger did not complete a pass to a receiver until midway through the 3rd quarter. The passing game was dismal at best. I hope that they can find some kind of a passing game this season.

In the next games, we will see if the Vikes give a damn about the rest of the season. There was not that many players that actually played with their heart on Sunday. There was only 4-5 player that came out to play.

Adrian Peterson
Chester Taylor
Chris Kluwe
EJ Hederson
Ben Leber

Their is nothing positive from this performance. No unit on this day decided to show up. We will see if they can rebound to some degree with this pathetic display they showed us against the Packers.

09 November 2007

Pregame Vikes @ Packers

With the Vikings fans wondering who will starting on Sunday at the QB slot. It looks like former Wisconsin Badger Brooks Bollinger might get the start come Sunday. You just never know about Childress sometimes. In my opinion Brooks looks the best out the other quaterbacks that are on the roster come gameday. Some things the Vikes need to go at Green Bay.

Run the ball. With the year that Peterson is having so far. Why not go with the flow. He has been ripping through some great defenses so far this season. There is a reason that he leading the league is rushing yards. With him and Taylor they are pretty tough to defend. I hope that Childress give Peterson the rock in the second half in this game.

Stop the pass. This is a must against the Packers. All the Vikes need to do is stop the pass and keep constant pressure on Favre. If this team cannot pass they can not move the ball. They have a nonexistent rushing game. The defense will have their work cut out for them to stop Favre at Green Bay.Force him to hurry the pass. Favre will make a bad pass and throw an interception.

Special Teams. Whoever wins this battle of special teams will come out on top in the end. It is vital that we play as well in this area again.

This is a BIG game for the Vikes this week. It is a division game and the tell tale of what kinda team the Vikes are. All year the have been a mystery team. All unit have to click in order for us to walk out of Lambeau Field with a victory.

Vikes sign a QB

With two out of the three QB questionable for the game on Sunday against Green Bay. Brad Childress needed a QB fast. So the Vikes signed Koy Detmer to a one-year contract. They needed to have some dept at the QB position with Jackson and Holcomb with a question mark over their heads. If these two QBs cannot go against Green Bay then Brooks Bollinger would have get the start.Detmer would serve as backup. Detmer was primarily a backup for his 10 year career when Brad Childress was the offensive coordinator for the Eagles.Childress is familiar with With the signing of Detmer the Vikes had to release cornerback Ronyell Whitaker from the 53 man roster.

For the Record

With the win over the Chargers on Sunday. If someone under a rock or something. Adrain Peterson ran over the Chargers defense all day long. He ran for 296 yards and 3 TDs.This is now the NFL record for rushing yards in a single game. He broke it by 3 feet. He ran around them, through and past the defenders. He had great blocks from the linemen all day long. I am just so glad that the Vikes took him in the draft.Hopefully that the AP and Vikes can get a passing game of open up more running room for the rookie star.We will see what happens when the season comes to the end.

05 November 2007

Post Game Chargers @ Vikings

The Vikings have upset the Chargers at home 34-17. I will say this now I did not think that the Vikes were going to come out on top in this game.Vikes really came to play on this day. Adrian Peterson just showed time and time again why he is such a special player. The Chargers are one of the best rushing defenses in the league. They were no match for Adrian "All Day" Peterson. He had 296 yards (NFL record for most rushing yards in a game) 3 rushing touchdowns.

On offensive side, Adrian Peterson had his best game of the season and he out rushed many teams yesterday. He consistently had big run after big run.I sure am glad that the top six teams in the draft passed on him.(THANK YOU).Brooks Bollinger(B2) came in again for Tarvaris Jackson he has been injured again. He needs to learn the QB pansy slide. B2 had a decent game after coming in completing 7 passes for 95 yards and a touchdown to Sidney Rice. With the Vikes rushing attack(378 yards), this is what opened Rice up with the play action pass for the TD. In the second half the line and receivers was really opening up some nice holes for Peterson and company to scamper through.

On the defensive side, we defended the pass well and stop the Chargers' rushing threat LT. We gave up under 200 yards of pass considering on average we give up about 300 yards per game. This is something that our DB needed to do.We stop the LT to 46 yards rushing and Antino Gates had 10 yards receiving. The Vikes D held the Chargers stars to minumal imoact in this game. We also created some turnovers to help out the offense.

The special teams unit ,Aundrae Allison had a 62 yard return that helped setup one of Adrian Peterson's touchdowns. With time expiring in the 1st half Ryan Longwell attempted a 60 yard field goal and Antonio Cromartie caught the ball in end-zone and ran it out. Cromartie sweep past the Vikes down the sideline, and score an improbable 109-yard TD, breaking - by one yard - the record for longest-ever NFL play (previously held by Devin Hester).

With this win I hope that the Vikes can take this and go with it. All units played well today. They need to do the same this every week the rest of the year. We show that we have more talent on offense besides Adrian Peterson.

Pregame Thoughts Vikes @ San Diego

The Vikes are a struggling team are in need for a victory. It feels like it has been forever since that beat up on Da Bears. The vets are getting frustrated with the play they are showing on the field. The offense and defense are both play sub par. This game feature 2 great running backs and 2 of the best run defense in the league. To turn the season around here are some keys of the game.

1. Pressure Philip Rivers. This will be essential for us to win. I have seem when teams put pressure on him he make mistakes. He is not that mobile of a QB, he is more of a pocket passer. The problem is that we such a good run defense the teams pass 60% of the time. Teams know that our coverage is poor.

2. Try to pass consistently. For the Vikes to score we need to be able to should we can complete passes and sustain a drive. So we are not a one-dimensional team on Sunday. Just enough to keep the chargers honest on the run.

3. Contain LT. I think that we have the right guys on defense to keep LT under control and he will not be a factor in the game. It helps that we have one of the best run stop defenses in the league this year again.

4. Run Adrian Run. There is a reason why is leading the league in rushing. I would think that Peterson would get the rock about 20 times again this game. If our line can create holes for him, he should have a good game. He has been our offense this year. Chilly, just get him to ball some way.

31 October 2007

Jackson in for now

The Vikes announced that Tavaris Jackson is expected to start against the Chargers on Sunday. It will be quite the game to watch and see how he fairs against one of the better defenses in the league. Considering how banged up T-Jack is. He has a fractured finger and the groin injury. I have been sticking with him all season long.So far, he has displayed nothing but disappointment. He has been struggling with his accuracy all year.He has been completing around 45% of his passes each game. Maybe Troy Williamson can give him the name of doctor to help him out. Chilly I hope you know what you are doing with this raw rookie QB, the QB of the future. He has been showing no promise thus far this year. I hope I am singing a different tune in a couple of weeks. Right now, I say put in Bollinger to finish the rest of the season.

29 October 2007

Eagles 23 Vikes 16

The Minnesota Vikings are so close but yet so far away. Like most of the losses this year. The defense hold the opponent close and the offense cannot play consistently. In this game the Vikes started with Kelly Holcomb under center against the Eagles. While he was in he did little passing, he was 7-for-16 for 88 yards and a touchdown. All game he could not put together a consistent drive. He was relieved of his duties when Juqua Thomas drove his head into the turf for a sack early in the third quarter.
After that in came Brooks Bollinger to give the Vikes offense some spark in the 2nd half. He completed 7-of-10 passes for 94 yards.Brooks looked more mobile than Holcomb did all day and his accuracy is better than Jackson. For the rest of the season go with Brooks he gives us the best chance to win games.
Our rushing attack was stopped to a stand still today. The Eagles stop out offense the rushing game . We had 105 yards today. I believe it was the lowest total thus far this year. Peterson had more touches , but it did not pan out. he had 70 yards on 20 carries.
The Eagles offense did well today finishing with 323 net passing yards, using short passes to equalize the lack of success in the run game 62 yards. Our DBs are getting burnt by everything team it seems like this year, plus due to the fact we have one of the best rush defenses in the league this year again.

Are we too late??

After shocking the NFL with the Chicago game they have gone in a 2 game skid again. I think that they need to win this next game against the Chargers to even consider a playoff run. We need to be more consistent at the quarterback position to think we are going to win anymore games this year.We need an offense in a hurry to think about a run. Each loss the vets are growing more and more frustrated. All I can say is this Skol Vikings.

26 October 2007

Eagles @ Vikes Pregame

The Eagles were predict to finish the season at the top on the division. Right now after 6 games, they stand at 2-4. This is the same as the Vikings. The Eagles have been having a rollercoaster season much like the Vikes. They have had inconsistent play. I do not see the Eagle scoring that much against us on Sunday. The Eagle do not have a great red zone offense, but our defense excel in the red zone. It is one of the best this year. It looks like David Askers is going to be busy on Sunday for the Eagles.
In order the Vikes to win, they need a good dose of Adrain Peterson and Chester Taylor. It is really nice 2 have two back to complement each other the way that they do. It is hard for a defense to prepare for a tandem like this. It looks like that Kelly Holcomb will be back at the QB with the injury to Tarvaris Jackson. I think that Holcomb can help lead this team to victory.

**Special note
The Vikes sign their punter, Chris Kluwe signed a six-year extension yesterday. He is under contract with the Vikes until 2013. Now he is one of the highest paid punters' in the league.

25 October 2007

T-Jack might be out

After the bitter close loss to the Cowboys. We find out that Tarvaris Jackson fractured his index finger on his throwing hand. With that being said this might explain why he was so inaccurate during the game.
According to Chilly, this is significant injury to T-Jack. This is the last thing that touches the ball to put the finishing spin on it. So the Vikes are not that sure who will be starting T-Jack or Kelly Holcomb.
Kelly Holcomb had a couple of decent starts for the Vikes so far this year. All his starts ended the same with losses. We will see if our OL especially the left side can pass protect. In the games Holcomb started he was sacked 10 times in two starts.
Regardless who starts the game it is going to a tough one in Philly. Both of the teams coming in to the game are 2-4. They will be fightinh tooth and nail to get in the W column in a much needed win for each team.

24 October 2007

NFL Draft

The time allotment for each pick has been reduced. Here is the way it plays out.
Day1:
  • Round 1- 10 minutes
  • Round 2- 7 minutes
Day 2:
Rounds 3-7 5 minutes

I like this move by league officials. After last year 1st round mathon, the NFL figured out something had to be done. I think that it is about time it happened. Considering Don't the coaches know who the hell they are going to pick or close to who they want. It will be nice to speed the draft up a little bit.

22 October 2007

Vikings struggle against the Cowboys

The Vikes do it again. They were leading the Cowboys 14-7 at halftime. After the Boys tied it up in the 3rd quarter with a great Romo drive and a Barber 1 yard touchdown run. The Vikings then put to get a good drive it looked like that the Vikes were going to get a FG to break the Cowboy momentum. The Vikes had to burn a tome out because Ryan Cook was not on the field on time. Now knows if that who have mad a different of not. After that Dallas blocked the field goal after the time-out and took the ball all the way back for the score and the 21-14 lead. After that the Cowboys did not look back. The juggler cut was when the Cowboys had a Vikes deep in their own territory, Peterson fumbled the ball. Dallas capitalized with a field goal, and the 24-14 score that would hold up until the end.
Adrian Peterson had a decent performance. He was held to only 63 yards(140 all purpose yards). We can not expect Peterson to put out a 200 yard- plus performance every week. What else did Dallas have to focus on? It is simple we can not pass the ball to win the game. Jackson is inaccurate young QB.6/19, 72 yards, 0 TDs We need him to find a way to get that ball the the receivers or his career as a QB will be over REALLY soon same with Childress. I think that Childress that his project QB is can not be molded in what he envisioned. It may be time to go back to Kelly Holcomb under center. He is our best option at the QB position this year. The Vikes can still salvage the season.

18 October 2007

Vikings @ Dallas Pregame Thoughts

Coming off of the game that Peterson had against the Bears, The Vikings have momentum on their side. Now the Cowboys have something to prove that they are a Super Bowl caliber team after the embarrassment that showed the nation in last weeks game again the Pats. Here are so keys the Vikes need to do in the game.

  1. Pressure Romo! Keep consistent pressure on him, then he will make a mistake. Do not allow him to have time in the pocket or he will scorch the DBs.
  2. Stop the run. Not like that has been much of a problem again this year. We hank number uno against the run.
  3. The pass attack. The Vikes need to be able to pass the ball successful in this game to win.
  4. Pound the Rock. The Vikings have two great running backs in AP and CT. The Vikes have two back with two different styles. This makes the Vikes hard to defend against.

16 October 2007

Hail to the Interception King

A Viking blog is not complete with the mention what happened on Sunday. Brett Favre has set another record. On Sunday against the Washington Redskins, he was 1 interception away from breaking George Blanda's interception mark(277). He threw 2 in the game, now he has 279 for his career . I am have been waiting for him the break this one all season. It is about time.

15 October 2007

Postgame: Vikings and Da Bears

Here we have it a Viking victory without a defensive touchdown. The offense today played best they have thus far all season. With the 34-31 victory is a boost for the whole team.
The offense played good today. They have not been as frustrating as they have been all season. Chilly FINALLY realized that maybe I should give Adrian Peterson the rock a bit more. AP just exploded for over 224 yards on the ground on 20 carries with 3 TDs(67,73,and 35). As expected we had Tarvaris Jackson back in action. He was not impressive, but he had zero INTs. That is a plus, considering how he played his previous starts. He went 9/23 136 yard and 1 TD. His lone TD pass was to Troy Williamson for 60 yards. Our O-line did a great job opening up hole for our running backs.
The defense pass coverage was horrible again. They almost gave the Bears the game. The Vikes seconday gave up 381 yards for 3 TDs. We need help in the secondary.A switch may be taking place. . But the Vikes gave up two long touchdown passes, allowing Chicago to tie the game. Then Peterson had a 53 yard kickoff return, allowing the Vikings to attempt the long field goal that Ryan Longwell made.
This was a big game for us to get a win in.
We have a murderous schedule. So hopefully the Vikes can take this momentum to to these upcoming games. In order for the Vikes to even think of the playoffs. They have to win 2 of the nexy 3 games. If not they can most likely kiss the playoffs goodbye.

12 October 2007

Pregame thoughts: Vikings @ Da Bears

With Viking going to face-off against the Bear in Solider Field. There some question that are floating around for the Vikes.
  • Is T-Jack going to play against the Bears?
  • When will the passing game start to improve?
  • Can the secondary stop the pass?
With the Vikes struggling to pass the ball this season no matter if it is Jackson or Kelly in the backfield. The offensive line has to help out the QB whoever is back there. Some of the games the defense was living the backfield, not allowing the QB enough time. Maybe the OL can protect the QB in the next coming games. Hopefully, the can do something against the Bears secondary.considering that they are one of the worst in the league. Coming into this game, both teams has good run defenses. The pass defenses in the game are horrible giving up at least 240 yards for each squad.
In this game it will be a focused on the running backs. The Bears running back Cedric Benson has had a lack-luster start of the 2007 season as the starter. Benson can not get his ass covered by Thomas this season. The reason is that the Bears thought that Benson was starting to come around as a full-time start in the NFL. So far it is not happening, whatsoever. The Vikes rookie running back Adrian Peterson is doing great this season. He i one of the best in the NFC in the 1st quarter of play. As long as Chilly keeps Peterson in the game, they will do fine against the Bears. It will be an interesting game this week.

10 October 2007

T-Jack is Back

The Viking Quarterback Tarvaris Jackson is expected to be back this Sunday as they head to Solider Field to take on the Bears. Jackson has had 3 weeks to rest is strained groin that he sustained against Detroit. He has had a rough couple of starting this season for the Vikes. Tgis is his "rookie season" as a starter. He as a 40.0 QB rating(OUCH!). Hopefully with his mobility a factor for the Chicago defense has to worry about this will help our so far poor passing game. With the great running game that the Vikes have this will lift much of the pressure off of their QB. I am glad to see that he is back at the helm for the team. Nonetheless, Childress has made it clear that he is going to sink or swim with the second-year quarterback as his starter, and so Jackson starting would come as no surprise The two weeks, that Kelly Holcomb was QB is did a pretty decent job, but it did not give us wins. We will see if T-Jack can revive the passing attack that the Viking once had.

05 October 2007

An Award

With the Vikes having a bye this week there is not that much news to report. With their hot star playmaking rookie Adrian Peterson that is an early favorite for Rookie of the Year. With four games under his belt. He is looking like he has playing this game longer. He is making the run defense wonder how to stop this kid. For the month of September he had earned the NFC Rookie of the Month. Here is a look at the number that Peterson has been putting up so f in the season.
ATT YDS AVG LNG TD REC YDS AVG LNG TD

76 383 5.0 55 1 9 166 18.4 60 1

If he stay healthy and depending if Chilly keeps in the second half, Peterson will probably rush over 1500 yard this season.

03 October 2007

Moore Might Be No more

With the bye for the Vikes this week. There is some trade rumors going around with many teams. A player that I have liked since his debut as a Viking is Mewelde Moore. The deal would sent him to Tampa Bay Buccaneers that are in NEED of a running back. For the deal to go though the Vikes are asking for a 1st day pick in upcoming draft. For now this deal is not a chance Bucs are willing to take a 4 year vet. With the October 16th ,trade dealine coming closer, we will see what happens. The Bucs lost there start back Cadillac Williams for the season with a right leg injury.I do not see the Vikes letting Moore slide away from them unless the 1st day pick is met. Moore is a great insurance policy. He is on his final year of his rookie contract. If he does stay with the team for the rest of the year.It is not very likely we will be back with the purple and gold next season. He will be an unrestricted free agent next season. Considering that our star rookie Adrian Peterson has his history of injury problem back in college.Chester Taylor has been injured with a hip problem for two games this season so far. That gave AP the opportunity to be the teams star back.

02 October 2007

The Monday After

In the Monday press conference, Brad"Chilly" Childress was trying to stay off the subject of why he did not play Adrian Peterson in the second half. Chilly claimed was that he was too tired to play with the kick returning duties he had on Sunday. We need to have AP on the field, it does not matter how. He is our playmaker. In the second half we did not have a good mix of ran and pass. Sure we had a good play here and there. We need to be able to move to ball consistently.
Chilly also added that T-Jack probably be back for the Vikes coming off the bye pending he is healthy enough.Personally the way that T-Jack was playing it was not that impressive his first couple of game. He is still a rookie quarterback with little big game experience.Hopeully Chilly is right about him as a "moldable" quarterback.
The defense is keeping to the run game under control again thus far this season , only allowing 62 yards per game(1st in the NFL). The pass defense is the big sore on the D. They are giving up 266 ypg(29th in the NFL). We need help in the secondary FAST. This is season will end up like last year with us going 6-10.

01 October 2007

More Missed Opportunities

With the Vikings heading into the bye week with a record 1-3. I was hoping for a .500 record going into the bye week. From here on out it is a tough schedule the Vikes have against them. The Vikings had many missed opportunities in the game against the Green Bay Packers. Their difficulty in the red zone continued in the week 4 match up against the Packers. It was quite difficult to watch the Vikes get so close to their end zone and could not punch the ball in the end zone. The only TD came from starting quarterback Kelly Holcomb to Sidney Rice for a 15 yard fade. The catch was a Moss-like catch. Other that that TD score the scoring came from the trusty leg of Ryan Longwell, with 3 field goals. That was as close as they the would get the the Packers. The Packers would end up winning 23-16 at the Metrodome on Sunday. There is something that Chilly had the realize. The fact, that Adrian Peterson is the spark on your offense. When he is on the field he makes defenses scared and worried. He had over 100 yards rushing in the FIRST HALF. In the second half run him only one play, then pass majority of the time. There is no understanding what Chilly is trying to do with the offense. He has to adjust the Offensive scheme to the kind of personal that he has now.

*On another note Brett Favre did break the record for passing TDs which in now 422.This was expected considering that they can not run the ball. He will have it for a little while until Peyton Manning captures all the passing records. The Packers also

Vikings get Nipped

When the Viking rolled in KC, they knew that it was a winnable game. This game again was the tale of two halves. The Vikings lost for the second week in a row 13-10. We had 3rd string quarterback directing the offense in this game, due to T-Jack being out with a groin injury. Kelly Holcomb did a decent job under center. The problem with the offense was the line played like shit. I could not believe the amount of times that the Chief defenders were in the backfield. When Holcomb did have time he went for 14 for 28, 165 yards, 0 TDs and 0 INTs. Which is not that bad considering that averaging about 3 ints per game before this one. We need a passing game in a hurry or I do not think we will have much of a season.
Our rushing attack is a totally different story. With Adrian Peterson in the backfield, he is marvelous. So far he has two 100+ yard rushing games this season. This a great time for him to shine with our lack of a passing game and Taylor out of the lineup for the last two weeks. AP had the lone spark of offense production in the KC game.

The defense had do so much this year it is unbelievable. If they are not scoring touchdowns they are stopping the run. With one of the best run stoppers in the league the Williamses. Only allowing about 70 per game this year. We need some help with the pass coverage. That is the only fault of out D. We held Larry Johnson (one NFL's best RBs last season) to under 50 yards. The late TD pass given up to the mismatched Cedric Griffin to Dwayne Bowe was what shot us in the foot.
Next up is ": the Packers(3-0) @ Minnesota(1-2)
