With the Viking hosting the Lions on Sunday, it was suppose to be a lopsided victory for the Vikes. It was not at all the cause the Beloved Purple.
In the game Viking offense was not there in the first couple of quarters. Considering that the only points in that half came when Lion QB Dan Orlovsky was running away from Jared Allen in their end zone and was chased out for a safety.Frerotte and company just could not get anything going in the first half and some of the third quarter. The offense was spuddering. The unit would make a good play then the drive would fail. Nothing was going right now even Adrian Peterson who put the ball on the turf twice and lost them both. One of those was deep in Viking territory. The Vikings offense were not giving Childress much to work with. Nothing really did not get into the end zone until late in the third quarter when Berrian did most of the work on an 86-yard touchdown from Frerotte. Trailing 10-9 with 2:22 to play, the Vikings had a second-and-20 from their 32. Frerotte threw deep down the sideline for Aundrae Allison, and the ball fell incomplete. But field judge Mike Weir whistled Bodden for pass interference despite what appeared to be minimal contact. After that 5 plays later Ryan Longwell kicked the game winning field goal two week in a row.
Offense Leaders
- Gus Frerotte finished with 296 yards, one touchdown and one interception
- Adrian Peterson rushed for 111 yards on 25 carries, but lost two fumbles
- Bernard Berrian 5 catches for 131 yards 1 TD
A win is a win how UGLY it may have been. Coming up next week the Vikes are going to have a real test going to Solider Field to face Da Bears.
