Viking Triumph: Vikes 20 Lions 16

The Vikes for the second time this season edge the Lions in an ugly game played by the Vikes. With the play of T-Jack the Vikes came out on top to leave the Lion winless for the 13th time this season. The Vikes were behind going into the locker room at half time, but in the end the Vikes came out on top 20-16.
In the first half the Vikes looked sad on the offensive side of the ball. Gus Frerotte threw 2 interceptions in 10 attempts for 70 yards passing before he was injured late in the second quarter and Tarvaris Jackson took his place. Jackson did a great job taking over and threw the go ahead touchdown to o Visanthe Shiancoe. Jackson led the Vikes to 17 unanswered points. Jacson was 7-10 for 105 yards.
Adrian Peterson had a rough day hanging on to the ball fumbling the rock 3 times lucky that the Lions did not recover any of those bumbles. Overall Peterson had a average day rushing the ball 23 times going over the century mark for 102 yards.
The defense was pretty good at times in the game. With the Williams Wall playing in this game at least for this week after Federal Court blocked the leagues suspension for now. They held the Lion to 76 yards rushing. They were unmovable during the game.
Jared Allen was very dominate on this day as well. He had 5 tackles 2 sacks(12.5 for the year) and a forced fumble. In the first half, Allen was fuming after OT Gosder Cherilus lunged from his knees to hit Allen on his left knee. He thought that he was injured, but he return as was a monster the rest of the day.
Old Viking QB Culpepper with the Lions now threw 12-24 for 220 yards and a 70 yards touchdown pass to Calvin Johnson. Johnson blew past Sharper and Griffin for that score.
A win is a win it does not matter how ugly it may be. The Vikes are still on the top of the division at 8-5 with the Bears at 7-6. Topics for this week: How bad of an injury to Frerotte, will the Williams Wall be suspended. More to come this week.

With the Viking taking over the division last week they will be traveling to Detroit to continue their wrath to make it into the playoffs this season. The fans were celebrating on Monday, but then came Tuesday. Everything ended in an abrupt halt when the Williams Wall was announced and suspended for the last quarter of the season, barring a miracle of some kind happens. The Vikes need to do enough to stop the run, our backups will not stop the run the way the Williams; did. The Vikes did sign on player Jimmy Kennedy (which was just release last month by the Jags). The Vikes have Kennedy, Ellis Wyms, and Fred Evans to be the monsters in the middle this coming Sunday.
I just do not see the Vikes having much trouble stopping Detroit, they are one of the worst teams running the ball and passing the ball has not been a viable option for them either. The only real weapon the Lion have on offense is Calvin Johnson and Antonio Winfield that is all I have to say. Winfield has been one of the best shutdown corners the past few seasons. I just think that it is going to be weird heading into without the Williams Wall.
On the offensive side of the ball will be interesting. As of late the teams that were “determined” to stopping Adrian Peterson has not succeeded. He has been running over defenses running over 100 yards 7 times this season already. I can see AD continuing his quest to making the playoffs, possibly a MVP and the 1st Viking rushing title in team history. The Lions are one of the worst against the run, so maybe it will be a All Day running affair for Peterson and Taylor.
The passing game will need to enough to keep the Lions honest, but Frerotte has been doing a pretty good job passing the ball as of late. He has been throwing less INTS, that is the keep of every football teams to limits your mistakes.
Injunction

It looks like that the Williams Wall will be filing an injunction(an equitable remedy in the form of a court order, whereby a party is required to do, or to refrain from doing, certain acts. The party that fails to adhere to the injunction faces civil or criminal penalties and may have to pay damages or accept sanctions for failing to follow the court's order. In some cases, breaches of injunctions are considered serious criminal offences that merit arrest and possible prison sentences.) today in US District Court. This is the last possible attempt to keep playing. We shall see if the Vikes will be for sure without their monsters in the middle. I hope, but would not count on them playing for the reason of the season.

It is Official!!!
Here are the remaining games the Vikes have:
Detroit @ Ford Field
Arizona @ University of Phoenix Stadium
Atlanta @ Thunderdome
NY Giants @ Thunderdome
With these 4 games I am hoping for 2 wins and that might be enough to get us in the playoffs. I am trying my best to stay optimistic.
Sweet Pass
The 1st offensive play that turned the game around. Before this the Bears were dominating the Vikes.
