The Vikes for the second time this season edge the Lions in an ugly game played by the Vikes. With the play of T-Jack the Vikes came out on top to leave the Lion winless for the 13th time this season. The Vikes were behind going into the locker room at half time, but in the end the Vikes came out on top 20-16.
In the first half the Vikes looked sad on the offensive side of the ball. Gus Frerotte threw 2 interceptions in 10 attempts for 70 yards passing before he was injured late in the second quarter and Tarvaris Jackson took his place. Jackson did a great job taking over and threw the go ahead touchdown to o Visanthe Shiancoe. Jackson led the Vikes to 17 unanswered points. Jacson was 7-10 for 105 yards.
Adrian Peterson had a rough day hanging on to the ball fumbling the rock 3 times lucky that the Lions did not recover any of those bumbles. Overall Peterson had a average day rushing the ball 23 times going over the century mark for 102 yards.
The defense was pretty good at times in the game. With the Williams Wall playing in this game at least for this week after Federal Court blocked the leagues suspension for now. They held the Lion to 76 yards rushing. They were unmovable during the game.
Jared Allen was very dominate on this day as well. He had 5 tackles 2 sacks(12.5 for the year) and a forced fumble. In the first half, Allen was fuming after OT Gosder Cherilus lunged from his knees to hit Allen on his left knee. He thought that he was injured, but he return as was a monster the rest of the day.
Old Viking QB Culpepper with the Lions now threw 12-24 for 220 yards and a 70 yards touchdown pass to Calvin Johnson. Johnson blew past Sharper and Griffin for that score.
A win is a win it does not matter how ugly it may be. The Vikes are still on the top of the division at 8-5 with the Bears at 7-6. Topics for this week: How bad of an injury to Frerotte, will the Williams Wall be suspended. More to come this week.
