Cassel Tagged
That is right ladies and gentlemen, New England has announced that they stamped the franchise tag over Matt Cassel's head. What does this mean to Vikings to acquire Cassel as their QB? The move means the quarterback remains a free agent, but the Patriots can match any offer made by another team or allow him to sign with that team in exchange for two first-round draft picks.
This will ensure that the Pats have an insurance policy in place, if Tom Brady will not be healthly enough to go at the season opener. If Cassel does sign with the Pats this season, he will be getting 1 year-14.65 mil this season, but the Pats might also trade him based on Brady's progress. There is no way that the Pats will be able to keep two QBs whose contracts would take up 25 percent of the salary cap. It will be an interesting one to see what all traspires with the QB issue in New England.
